Description
"The Battle for Grayskull" was my project for Grayskull Con 2016 It's a conversation of Alfredo Alcala's famous drawing into a huge classic oil painting on canvas at a mighty 100 x 120 cm size (about 39,5 x 47,3 inches). The original is a page of the minicomic "He-Man and the Power Sword" from 1981:

But I wasn't happy with the painting. The lack of satisfaction about a few things was growing the more often I look at it. And I do every single day. It's the first time that I felt that after revealing a finished painting. Of course there are artworks I would paint in a different way after years. But here we have another thing. It just didn't capture the feeling that I have when I look at the original drawing of He-Man lifting Red Beastman.
The new final version has the following changes:
• New Head for He-Man
• New Head for Teela as well
• Man-At-Arms: new leg
• Beast-Man: New feet and altered legs
• Skeletor: New hand
• Sword altered
• Walls of Grayskull changed
• Complete new planet above Eternia
• Dark sky for more vintage feeling
• Modifications on Skeletor's body and leg
• Stratos!
• He-Man's harness
• He-Man's shoulder angle
• Pimped axe
• Boot dagger rotation (better fitting)
and last but not least
• complete repainting of light and shadow and reflections, I really can't tell you all of it anymore.
Enjoy!
